The idea was simple - who is hanging out at the party at the end of the world? Last Band was formed with an idea to complete a ten-song album in a month for the RPM record contest circling around that theme. As the imagined musical chronicler of this tale, we became the "Last Band On Earth."

After satisfying the conditions of the contest, we met Ryan and re-recorded two of the original 2009 demo performances, "No Tomorrow" and "Last Call." The original intent was to build on the original demo and replace some or all of the tracks with full-band versions. New material went in a different direction, and in the interests of having something to hand out at gigs, these tracks intermingled with newer full band recordings and the album idea was shelved, before Last Band itself was shelved early 2011.

Intended for release at multiple points over the years and remixed more times than "Chinese Democracy," this not so much a remaster, but fills out the original storyline and of what we started with those recordings. Keeping the original sequencing and improved sonic flow, and replacing the slapdash murkiness of the original recordings, this is a more satisfying and proper introduction to this part of our musical worlds.

the rest was originally recorded during a mostly insane Feb 2009
pat paul somehow played the drums with a busted wrist and we recorded them using tim otis's drum mics at the plaster works in manassas, va, an old durga temple practice spot, with various overdubs later done at Metalsound Studios that month and more across time.
